Monchee, Thanks for the compliment on my enteecamnnhs. Right now the code isn't ready to release. What I'm trying to do is get the original plugin author to work with me to encorporate at least some of the enteecamnnhs into his plugin. Also to work with him to provide a plugin framework where myself and others can extend the functionality. I haven't heard from the author yet, though. I don't really want to have two completely separate versions ( forks ) of the plugin out there. I'll keep everyone posted on any progress made with the author.

Fallingwater and the Usonian works are my favorite Wright endeavors. It's a shame Wright was hampered by the primitive building technology of his day, especially the poor sealants available (most of wright's homes seemed to have developed leaks). The claim that a Levittown house required 15 minutes to build is nonsense - that is simply how often a house was completed in that enormous development. The evils of Levittown can be attributed to the gigantic (and atypical) sudden demand for housing for the 10 million returning GIs after the war. The system was totally overloaded and produced the junk that is Levittown type developments. The builders held all the cards. Later developments that were not as frantic produced structures that owed a lot to Wright's Usonian models.

Grew up down the street on Birch Ave, and walked/biked everywhere as a child. Don't know which had a bigger impact on me, the uniqueness of the house, or how scared I was to walk past the forest on the Birch Ave side of the property! :)

Having grown up in SW Wisconsin, I'm a longtime fan of Frank Lloyd Wright architecture. I currently work in the FLW Museum Shop in Oak Park, IL, and I hope to visit the Jacobs House sometime soon - perhaps this year if possible. I'd like information on when (or if) tours are available. I've heard so many good things about the house, and I know how historically and architecturally significant it is.

My daughter is a first year architecture student at FIU in Miami. I'm more of a FLW enthusiast than she, but I'll take her to Florida Southern College to see the FLW buildings. The USONIAN homes are my favorite FLW creations for their simplicity and distinctiveness. Still, like anything created by mankind they have flaws such as the narrow, closed in feeling of passageways or transit routes between rooms. Give me open space, light filled windows, and a simple step to the outside, and I will consider myself happy.

Excellent intoduction to the Usonian concept. Hope to visit this fall and do all the Wright things. If ever in Oregon, consider visiting the FLW designed Gordon House. Located 10 minutes east of Salem, off I5, in Silverton, on the Oregon Gardens grounds. Well worth the stop.

It was nice to visit "In The Realm of Ideas" in Madison in 1991 (Wright drawings displayed). I took my mother as a 70th birthday gift, and Jacobs House I was also open for tours. Mom was the Jacobs' after school helper/babysitter when the home was new, and it was really a thrill to take her to see this lovely home about 53 years later. Thank you for this lovely website, too.

We are in the process of buying a house in Kirkwood, MO. In tracing the history of Barrett Brae Subdivsion, I came upon this site. Our future home was built in 1955 using the Usonian concept. We have had the opportunity to visit 2 Frank Lloyd Wright homes. One here in Kirkwood, MO, the other in Springfield, IL. The Jacobs House is absolutely gorgeous!

I have been reading a book I recently bought on Frank Lloyd Wright and realized, to my amazement, that I had babysat many times in ths house while I was a student at Madison in 1975-75. A young couple with a baby lived there, he was a medical resident, and they moved out of the area that summer.I thought it was the most beautiful and unusual house I had ever seen. Now I know why!! I had absolutely no idea it was one of FLW's most famous houses. It was never mentioned.
